The project proposes the transformation of the current library space into a new spatial experience that serves the functions of book collection and storage simultaneously with study and research in an interdisciplinary, intergenerational and inclusive environment that would able to serves both individuals and groups in a programmed area of 246,70 m2.

One of the main objectives of the proposal is to potentiate the current spatial configuration highlighting its design, proportions and features. Following this aim functions are organized according to the current spatial scheme placing new functions in areas that best serves users, considering space proportions, dimensions and the presence or absence of natural light.

The space is conceptualized as constellations of letters made of poems from the Concrete Poetry art movement. Thus, the new library space is the result of the connection of art and text and introduces the MACTE library as an additional art project inside the Museum. Letters are the basic components of texts; we emphasize the value of these linguistic elements as parts that configure the library spatial experience.

On the other hand, the library collection is also conceived as a system of constellations or clusters of subjects, in which, every constellation of books is dedicated to specific topics but is visually connected to other ones that are easy to access and consult, simultaneously. This distribution will support transversal research, spur research creativity and encourage interdisciplinary approaches. The scheme is inspired on the libraries imagined by Umberto Eco in Il nome della rosa, 1980 and Jorge Luis Borges, La biblioteca de Babel, 1941.

In order to prioritize the use of recycle materials and introduce the project in the upcycling initiatives of on the local community. We emphasize the use of construction solutions and systems developed with recycled wood and natural sustainable materials, facilitating also the involvement of local artisans and workshops on the realization of the project and reducing the carbon footprint in all the processes during the project realization.
